Where we sew is just as important as what we do and where the completed garments go…

If you are in our home base region—the ARKLATX--, look for us in public buildings—we may be in churches, in corporate facilities, in government settings. We find places that have ample floor space and good lighting, with plenty of electrical outlets, tables and chairs—having a refreshment area or kitchen is nice but not necessary—so, a room of about 900 square feet is quite adequate for a 25-person team.

Care Cap Connections™ teams are each different. However, the common denominator for all is that anyone is accepted. No task is considered unimportant. No one person’s place is more special. We are united—united in the task of giving a very wonderful gift to someone we do not even know. You can feel that sense of purpose in every care cap team. You will share the laughter. You will join all in the inner joy.

Here is what you discover when you step into a Care Cap Connections™ community sew-in:
You are a welcome addition to the team! While many people already know each other and have sewed together, that is not the rule. Usually, we have newcomers—many who do not sew and never will—to simply take part in a good project. You meet your hosts, sign in, are asked what you would like to do, and ease into the flow of things.

Before you, typically, is a room of tables and chairs, likely organized in four stations. There will be a place for fabrics and notions, a cutting area, the production line, and the iron/tag/bag section.

Three of the four stations are pretty evident. It is the production line that may be puzzling. Actually, it also has four stations: "Energizer Bunnies", "Sandwichers" and their partners ("Pinheads"), "Wingers" and "Miracle Workers". People who sew and those who pin, poke, and ‘run’ for fabrics and linings all work alongside each other in this process. Only the miracle workers—who finalize garment production and maintain our quality control—are the experts at machine sewing.
